Bright Thinking


The other day I was feeling a bit down because of situation that was out of my control.  I stewed and fretted about it. I was grumpy and felt tired.  I told myself that happiness is a state of mind and I can choose how I feel right now even if the situation doesn’t change.

Well my grumpy self continued to grumble so I went to bed to “sleep it off”. The next day I was sorting some papers and came across this little story that hit me straight in the heart.  I wanted to share it with you all.  It sure puts things in perspective….

The Two Wolves

An old Cherokee was teaching his grandson about life. “A fight is going on inside me” he said to the boy. “It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves.” “ One is evil- he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed , arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority and ego.” The other is good- he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.

This same fight is going on inside you-and inside every other person too. The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win?” The old Cherokee simply replied. “The one you feed”….

Next time things are not going the way you want and your emotions start to consume you just stop take a breath and ask who do I want to feed?
